ENDOMETRIA SPEAKS ENGLISH

It has been a long and adventurous challenge, but at last the English translation of my dark fantasy novel “Endometria” written and illustrated in 2007 is no more a fantasy. The eBook version including the illustrations of the first edition and new unreleased ones, the appendix with the backstory “The Veil of the Night” and several essays and notes is currently available on Amazon in Kindle format. Though, if you belong to those who still prefer to leaf through the rustling pages while smelling the fragrance of the freshly printed paper, don’t despair: the paperback version will be available shortly after. Having forgotten the years of the imprisonment by the Veil of Night, now Edel and Arnel reign on a new marquisate, far from the wars plaguing the realm of Lantaria. Despite their harmonious life, the epicenter of the chaos that is about to fall on the entire continent, is pulsating at the root of their love.

What’s the origin of the seed hidden inside the beak of the bird “franofelus”? Who are the acolytes of the Ancient Whisper? Why the monks of Garras have left their monastery to build new cathedrals in the city of Antalide? The ancient race of Aledani was really extinct along with their dark power? It will be up to Arnel to face, through his flesh, the hurricanes of memory in which the mystery of the “Eulatma children” is waiting to lash out.

MALORDA at the SELVA NERA FILM FESTIVAL

Alessandro Fantini, versatile artist working in a wide range of artistic expressions, from painting to filmmaking, who had presented the singular science fiction feature film Edonism at the first edition of the Selva Nera film festival, of Italian production but shot entirely in Japan, is back with a short film (excerpted from the seven episodes webseries) always characterized by intelligence and sense of the grotesque, which will appeal to lovers of that branch of the most bizarre fantasy fiction.

Dr. Malorda solves your problems, but be careful what you ask for ...

Reminiscing the floating world: about EDOnism and a giant catfish

Edonism is the tragic story of James Hallway, an English businessman from the UK who comes to Tokyo looking to fulfill his dreams and lead a peaceful life with his beautiful wife, Sophie. Instead he finds toil, torment and alcoholism. Unable to bear his descent into self-destruction, Sophie leaves, abandoning him to his downward spiral into the gutter. Day by day, his reality is consumed by hallucinations and weird perceptions. Once things can’t get any worse, he falls into a coma.
When he awakens from the coma, he begins to learn some terrifying truths about his condition and his connection to a long-forgotten legend from ancient Japan. Together with the resourceful Dr Geena Landlord he attempts a desperate quest of discovery that leads them both to the very heart of a conspiracy involving a secret government order and the enigmatic being known as the The Cat Fish.

The sci-fi mystery movie "EDOnism" filmed in Tokyo, directed, written, edited by Alessandro Fantini and produced by Lorenzo Fantini in 2010, had its Italian premiere at the first edition of "La Selva Nera" international film festival in Selvazzano Dentro, Padua, founded and directed by film critic Massimo Bezzati and filmmaker-writer Stefano Bovi.

When I faced for the first time the idea to shoot a movie in Tokyo, while I was discussing the hypothesis with then soon-to-be EDonism producer Lorenzo Fantini during his latest stay in Italy in 2009, I immediately thought that the script should have deal with something gigantic, frightening and epic. No other city in the world is able to suggest the feeling of a majestic and intimidating human beehive as much as Tokyo. It seemed that all my obsessions for movies like Blade Runner, Akira and Ghost in the Shell as well as my interest in Shintoism, Ukiyo-e art,  and Suehiro Maruo, would have take me sooner or later  to nowhere but to the enigmatic land of geisha, samurai, Godzilla and hi-tech marvels.  As usual, the way I fleshed out the concept and the story was closer to the process of conceiving a painting or a comic than to a traditional pre-production of a movie.

ENDOMETRIA - The seed of flesh

After the release of the second Italian edition, the English translation of the Alessandro Fantini's dark-fantasy novel "Endometria - The seed of flesh" is finally on the way.
Illustrated by the author himself, the novel was the main title of the "Fantagraphia" fantasy series launched in 2006 by the Italian publisher Liberodiscrivere based in Genoa, providing a more mature and dark sequel to the fairy tale "The Night Veil" released in the eponymous narrative collection. In order to satisfy the many requests of the non-Italian readers eager to discover the prodigious and dreary events unleashed by the Monks of Garras and the mysterious woman appeared in the desert of Grafiad, the author is currently working on an English adaptation of the novel that dramatizes most of the visual and poetic themes explored in his paintings and movies.

What's the origin of the seed hidden inside the beak of the bird "franofelus"? Who are the acolytes of the Ancient Whisper? Why the monks of Garras have left their monastery to build new cathedrals in the city of Antalide? The ancient race of Aledani was really extinct along with their dark power? It will be up to Arnel to face, through his flesh, the hurricanes of memory in which the mystery of the "Eulatma children" is waiting to lash out.
